Getting a new puppy is a very exciting event, but it comes with one dreaded experience - potty training.  Finding a quick and easy way to potty train your new dog will remove many of the qualms that people have with getting a puppy, if it wasn’t for having to housetrain the puppy.  However, contrary to popular belief, housetraining doesn’t have to be stressful or messy.  In fact, potty training can be a simple and easy process for both you and your puppy.

In the case of an older dog, especially if it is a rescue dog, then things can be more difficult. A dog which has been abandoned, for whatever reason, has probably aquired some undesirable habits and among them may be imperfect house training. If this is the case, then there is an even greater need for expert advice as soon as possible.

If you can instant access to this information, in the form of download from the internet, then you are already a good step towards solving your problem.

The first step in housetraining any dog is to be completely prepared for it before you even bring your new friend home.  There are a few supplies that you are going to need to ensure that you are ready when the puppy does come home.  You will also want to have some carpet cleaning supplies that neutralize odors, just in case. It is important to select the right bed for your dog. Dura-Bull Dog Beds are recommended by Kennels, Boarding Services, Groomers and Veterinary Hospitals.

The second step is to get the best, most detailed information that's available, which will make the training quick, easy and stress-free. Being prepared, with the right information before you start,  will save days or even weeks of pain and embarassment for you and your dog.

Here it is!  Mark Edwards' Guide to House Training will have your puppy clean and happy in no time at all and your house smelling just as good as ever! All this, for just $19.95.

Crate training is one of the easiest and most common methods for potty training your puppy.  You need to be prepared with a crate that will fit the puppy when it becomes an adult dog.  This may also mean that you will need to partition a portion of the crate so that the puppy doesn’t have too much room.  If the puppy has a crate that is too large they will use the bathroom in one corner and sleep in the other.  You can partition the crate with a box that takes up a portion of the crate.

If your dog is already an adult, then getting him to accept the crate may prove more difficult, so you will need to persevere, as a larger dog will nake more mess and smells.

There is much more on crate training, on our page at, you guessed it!

Once you have your puppy house trained, you will want to start him with obedience training as soon as possible. That way, you can stop him developing any bad habits, which are much harder to correct as your dog gets older.
